What is Two-factor authentication and how to set it up?
Updated over a week ago

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of security for your account, making it harder for unauthorized actors to break into your account. With this method, upon every login to your account beyond your username and chosen password, you must also enter a 6-digit verification code generated by a dedicated authentication app installed on your mobile device, accessible only to you.

Setting up Two-Factor Authentication is an important and recommended component in keeping your account secure, and it takes less than 5 minutes.

Follow these steps to set up Two-Factor Authentication for your account:

1. log in to your account, click on "My Profile" > "Security Settings" > "Setup Two-Factor Authentication".

2. Open the authentication app that you have or download one of the recommended apps. We recommend using Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, but you can choose any authentication app you prefer.

3. Using the scanner within the authentication app, scan the QR code displayed in the process.

4. The authentication app will generate a new "entry" (for Bits of Gold) with a 6-digit verification code. Enter the code in the designated box.

That's it! Two-factor authentication has been successfully set up, and your account is now more secure. From now on, every time you log in to your account, you will need to enter your username, password, and verification code.
